Beyond Pages is an innovative company specialising in stand up storytelling, immersive installations and cabaret style-narratives.
By fusing vaudeville inspired character development, recyclable theatre design and unique creative writing of rejuvenated folklore, our storytellers captivate audiences of all ages, sizes and backgrounds.
MEET
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
RUTHIE CARLISLE
She is our chief storyteller and level 8 story conjurer. Having developed her skills with Vayu Naidu Company, her first ever performance was to open for Johnny Borrell (lead singer of Razorlight) who was jamming at New Empowering Church. Able to target tales for kids, adults and deviants alike, Ruthie uses humour and madness to bring an audience to its knees in awe.
GENERAL MANAGER
OLI BROWN
This technical wizard, decor dogsbody, volunteer prop, crowd control officer, first aider, designated driver and roadie, is quite important to all Beyond Pages' missions.

Experienced thespians, writers and cabaret artists, weaving tales comes naturally to our crew of resident storytellers.

Fairly Grimm Tales - Old tales told with a modern twist but just as traditionally grim

WORKSHOPS
Story Laboratory
These sessions are suitable for schools, drama groups or social clubs. Each unique workshop can be custom designed to fit any curriculum or setting, participants creating and performing stories by following the simple '6 Ingredients of a Story' method.
Stories On The Run
Introducing how crafting and telling stories can assist with public performance, working with others and encouraging creativity.
Features three stages of workshop participation:
Communication, Creation & Presentation
In the full day workshop, our company's artistic director will navigate these stages with the group, in order to produce a team performance.
INSTALLATIONS
Immersive Storytelling Installations
The aim of these installations is to create a space where audiences and bystanders become storytellers. The artworks evolve, shaped by the interactions of passers by and subsequently encouraging further participation. Communities are created through the writing of words, the sharing of tales or the opening of doors.
Beyond Pages has had successful storytelling installations at Secret Cinema, White Mischief, Shangri-La Glastonbury and Rumpus End of Year Gathering.
